Ever wonder why so much of a deal is made of repetition ranges in training programs. You know the whole, one to three repetitions is for strength while anything more than three repetitions is for endurance...It's all nonsense and filler to sell books for Colleges, Universities, and Professional Conferences. Let's be serious for a second, if you take a person who does not have a fast twitch fiber in their body then give that person a routine that is geared towards explosiveness, he or she will fail. Here's the real deal on training programs; training programs must meet the person that uses it excluding repetition ranges. This approach has enabled me to help thousands of people to reach their fitness goals whether it be lose fat, lose inches on their waist, gain muscular size, gain muscular strength, improve joint flexibility, enhance cardiovascular endurance, etc.

Sex sells and so does controversy. If reality television exposes anything it is the willingness of the public to watch these programs. The television ratings on a daily basis prove what I write. The messages that are within these reality television shows despite the topic are not the type of audio/visual materials that lead to positive self-thought or successful interpersonal relationships. Sooner or later, the general public is going to realize how much cognitive damage these shows uncover. The way American society works, a massive occurance on a negative scale will have to happen with reality television to be the blame to put an end to this nonsense.

Without realizing it, the people who watch the reality shows take the experience from the show into their own lives. In a sense, the viewer becomes the person who is on the screen. If a person is not VERY self-aware he or she will certainly mimic the behavior exhibited within the reality show. If a person IS VERY self-aware, sooner or later he or she will exhibit the television behavior. The human brain absorbs information in fractions of seconds. It stores information based on the information it already has and searches for relevance. Imagine the mind as a file cabinet if you will. Each experience puts another file in the cabinet. Without experience the cabinet would be empty. I have seen this first hand. How can we as a society put an end to this? Sadly, the only end to reality television is when people stop watching television. This will happen only when electricity runs out. Will that happen soon? I personally doubt it. The way modern society is going, I wouldn't doubt it if in thirty years we resembles characters from the animated film WallE.

Put the television remote down and go outside to be one with nature. Man is nature and needs to be connected to it in order to grow naturally. This artificial environments (houses) and their ammenities (televisions) have made people too comfortable. Too many things that we do not need in our lives are at the touch of a button making our lives "easier". Fact is, we are making our lives much harder by self-poisening our own minds and body's with latent behavior. I often counsel my students who have difficulty sleeping in behavior modification. The common culprit is...YOU GUESSED IT; television. By keeping a television OUT of the bedroom, that room becomes a place of rest, sleep and tranquility instead of an enterntainment zone. The brain will condition itself to this over time and understand that when in the bedroom, sleep is the priority. While there are various factors that lead to sleep deprivation, the television and or electronic devices are the most obvious to deal with.

How many people do you know that are completely independent? It seems that independence comes at a premium these days. The proof is within the majority of mass movements within the fitness industry (and life). Instead of learning and understanding how to train for results, people are quick to flock to a mass movement to answers to their physical problems. Everyone knows the names of the mass fitness movements, workouts, etc. My point here today is to exploit the lack of independence within each person who joins one of these mass fitness groups.

Fitness is a very broad category however nowhere inside the definition of fitness is it described as joining a mass movement. In a sense, it is the complete opposite as physical training is an intimate act. If a person does train adequately and comes in contact with others who do the same, it is sensible to conclude that this grouping of people is by independence. With that, these doers are NOT members of the same group however can be categorized into a grouping of independent doers.

So what does a person really need to make physical progress? Well if you are asking me, I would simply answer with, SPACE! All a person needs is SPACE and the know-how to exercise without making mistakes. Mistakes lead to injuries. It pays to learn how to train from people that train.

As part of my teaching occupation, I take great pride in the development of my students. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to work with some very special human beings. Each weekend, I have a series of students who consistently put forth maximum effort after maximum effort. There is no laundry list of excuses for anything. There is no flexing part in fact that there cannot be any mirrors found in my gym. There is also no posturing of any type over here at KEG CONDITIONING headquarters. This weekends average time under tension for the sixty minute workouts was fifty-two minutes. This means that fifty-two minutes out of sixty total were working minutes. This is VERY impressive considering the tasks at hand, executionary level of those tasks and the disposition shown by each person.

The amount lifted is not as important as how long and how well over here. This change in perspective helps to keep students focused on their own individual efforts by way of elongated execution. Let's face it, anything done for a long period of time is going to be difficult. Now for a second imagine if the task you were going to do for a long time was difficult to start...Now you know the type of work we do here. To be blunt, most folks that talk ish like they train hard and are in good shape would want no part of this. The only folks who want it and I mean REALLY want it are the real tough folks that understand how cardio, strength and mental toughness all go hand and hand and hand. There is no avoiding any one of these factors in reality so in training the sentiments are replicated.

A special shout out to all those tough minded individuals who came to work this past weekend. I expect nothing but excellent results for each one of you both in life and in health. Keep it up. I gotcha' back.

I realize that the honest way of doing business is a rarity. In addition, being a person of integrity is even MORE of a rarity. The more time I spend as a trainer in the fitness industry the dirtier the reality of it becomes through my eyes. Deception and lies are around every single corner. So many people just want to improve their fitness for a variety of reason yet are led astray by bogus programs and supplements not to mention illegal drugs.

When will the time come that the general public will see what it right in front of them without allowing deception to take place? When will the time come that the general public will understand and accept that progressive hard work (and rest) equate to results? There is no half-way on anything unless you are the type of individual who wants half-way results.

Sooner or later the truth is going to be spread like wildfire. To make sure it is set good, I would like to once again ignite the inferno. What I teach that separates me from everyone else in the world is Indomitable Will. This is a mind set that enables a person to become an invincible force of energy. This does not cost anything except the time it takes to learn the techniques from me. Any man, woman or child can easily learn these skills if they choose to apply themselves. The learning and development of Indomitable Will does not include any supplements or fancy gym memberships.

I have mentored thousands of young men and women over the last decade as a certified teacher, coach and fitness trainer. As a result, I can tell you that my Indomitable Will perspective has helped each person to elevate their confidence, mental toughness, compassion, self-assertion not to mention the perseverance it takes to become a self-made success.

Could you put a price on...

acheiving several positive character traits?

breaking your own self-defeating habits for good?

reaching personal, professional and relationship goals?

I know the answer is no however I can show you the way with KEG CONDITIONING. I am honored to be in the position to mentor not only the youth I come in contact with but also the domestic and international community that I chat with on a daily basis by way of KEG CONDITIONING. Thank you for allowing me into your lives. Thank you for supporting me!

What are you willing to do in order to reach your goals today? Are you willing to do what it takes in order to make your physical dreams a reality? Is there a chance that you are going to put all your eggs in a basket and GO FOR IT?

The full keg power press video is making its way around the internet as we speak. When I set up the tripod to film one of the sets, I knew it would be a positive contribution to the irongame. The half keg weighed one hundred and fifty-nine pounds total. It was very hard to handle even though the video makes it appear as though the task was simple. VERY misleading, VERY!

I can remember a time when I was performing the power press with an empty thirty pound half keg. For a long time, I received tremendous results with the combination of my own effort and this exercise (power press). I knew that I had to first master the movement and then slowly add resistance to make progress. I understood that by adding resistance it would only make sense if the integrity of the exercise remained solid. As time went by and the efforts remained consistent, I literally earned the right to lift a heavier keg. Years have gone by and now I press the full keg in the same fashion as the empty keg. I am NOT talking about an overhead press either. I am referring to a POWER PRESS. Here is what it looks like without any fancy video edits. Raw footage.

If you take anything from this post please keep in mind that it takes time to make progress in anything. Often times, it may feel as though no progress is being made however time works for those who understand it. Time is something that can work for us if we allow it. This might mean taking an extra day off here and there. It might mean changing a certain lifestyle to accomodate the training.

The last note today I want you to understand is that gaining weight is NOT the be all end all with physical training, getting strong IS. Don't worry about what the scale might say and let your effort guide you. LET EFFORT GUIDE YOU!

A lot of people talk about being tough but are not willing to do the things we all know take to be tough. To be specific, becoming tough requires a person to put themselves outside of their comfort zone without knowing whether or not they will succeed. Most people would not even put themselves in this position because they are afraid to succeed. The few that actually go forward grow mentally and physically from the hard experience. Those are the people I am interested in having communication with. Those are the people I enjoy talking training with.

There is a learning curve associated with every aspect of life however none is as expansive as toughness. It doesn't have a look. It has a feel.

Another day, another workout. Last night I took a half keg and filled it with water until it weighed one hundred and twenty pounds total. I plugged it up using a rubber plug and then started the one hundred rep challenge. The excercise at hand was the lift off the ground, cheat curl and power press. Each rep started from the ground. The initial lift is a keg deadlift, the cheat curl is the perfect lead into the power press. Therefore the entire sequence works in synergy making it a very special task indeed. I haven't put a name on it but I will. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, I would certainly be open to reading/listening to them. Thank you!

When it's time for me to work out, I don't need a special song, supplement, outfit, partner or anything else for motivation. All I need is the power over my own mind (indomitable will) and some open space to execute the work. Last night, I decided to go to town on my one hundred pound water filled half keg. The only exercise I planned to use was the keg hang snatch for one hundred total repetitions. What made this session so special had been the manner of which the exercise was executed. Instead of the traditional power snatch version (which is off the floor), I decided to deadlift the keg and then turn the exercise into a hang snatch. Anyone who has ever done hang cleans or hang snatches truly understands how taxing it can be over time. Now, imagine using a one hundred pound live water filled beer keg!

A few key observations of the work had been the importance of keeping the keg close to the body during moments of explosive force. To keep it close, the grip on the keg is most important. It is also worth mentioning that this close contact between the keg and I made the execution consistent and perfect. In addition, the extended overhead holds (five seconds with each repetition) optimally taxed my postural tissues. I did not keep track of time nor did I care to due to the difficulty of the execution. All I cared about was doing everything correctly and finishing the job I had set out to do.

There are those who argue that olympic style lifting should not be performed with high repetitions. If those people could understand how effective these workouts are over a period of years (and decades) their tune would change justly. The active implement that is the water filled keg is a monster in itself. Just to have it in the hands for an extended period of time is enough of a burden in itself. Take the burden and improve profoundly!

KEG CONDITIONING is the most revolutionary fitness system on the planet Earth. I am writing this information to make sure you understand why this claim is being made. First, the keg itself (or barrel) is a virtually unbreakable implement that can last a lifetime. Second, the keg can be opened to empty and fill either solid or liquid at will. If you follow the directions inside the KEG CONDITIONING Book & DVD then you know how to make perfect progress. The people who follow the Book by the book say, "My body didn't even notice the difference between resistance levels but my conditioning did!" That's great feedback! Thirdly, the exercises included in the program are the pillars of strength and conditioning. Anything else besides those that are listed inside the KC program should be considered as extras.

Expect to get your strength, power, conditioning and cardiovascular fitness in one session with KEG CONDITIONING. If you have the will, I can show you the way.

People have been lifting weights and trying to advance physical exercise for over a century now. In short, mankind wants to be strong and look like it. At least, that is what is documented. When we take a look at how everything in the Iron Game has advanced, what seems to be the most important factor? Is it SO important that world records keep going up with every passing year? Is it a coincidence that performance enhancing drug use has gone up as well? Personally, I know the answer to these questions however my answers should not serve to influence your answers. Truth be told, your opinion is your own. The only thing I care about is advancing the mental status of mankind. Some people like to lift barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, master the use of machines and totally depend on bodyweight training exercises. Other people like to blend all their favorites together for a mixed bag of training. Does it matter what someone uses to exercise with? No. Will a person get stronger using one implement over another? Yes and no. What is the most important factor for a person looking to get as strong as possible? Indomitable will. This will serve to unite us all. Indomitable will will eradicate bogus supplements, programs and everything else that is made to lead good people astray and into the money pits of monetary greed.

Just a heads up that my open group workouts at Baseball Plus in Hicksville, NY has been moved to Monday's and Thursday's from 7:00pm - 8:00pm. All details were discussed at the last session on Tuesday. Major reason for the change is that all parties involved benefit from this alteration.

What can you expect from a group workout with me? Well for starters you might want to check your ego at the door. You will be asked to work very hard for a long period of time and to be mentally focused. There is no down time. I have one hour to make it work. The "it" is a lot of different things that are not limited to speed, agility, acceleration, strength, power, and conditioning. I bring it.

Do you know what Indomitable Will is? This is the unyielding spirit of a champion that never gives in no matter what. I teach this to every person I come in contact with no matter if it is in an individual, small group or team training session. This teaching sets me apart from the rest of the fitness industry and allows me to promote heavy mental ammunition. This is true power.

The KEG CONDITIONING products, whether it's the Book & DVD, The K.C. News, or even The Indomitable Will Audio CD are REAL DEAL products and are one of a kind. All of these offerings connect with one another to produce true synergy on the level of mind power and physical training. This special combination is designed for every person who used exercise as a means for physical improvement. This means the powerlifter looking to raise his total, the bodybuilder looking to lean out and muscle up, the weekend warrior looking to get stronger, the office worker looking to get stronger to take on the office bully, the kid in high school to become that all-star he dreams of becoming, the college athlete to give it all he's got and take a shot at the pros, etc. KEG CONDITIONING is for everyone. The progressive format is literally perfect.

I hope you had a great summer with your friends and your family! This summer here at KEG CONDITIONING was certainly a busy one. For starters, we have made many outstanding changes to our private members only blog turning it into a virtual discussion forum. This feature offers added incentive to those willing to support KEG CONDITIONING. All it takes to be a supporter is a one time purchase of the Book and DVD that has made its way around the world in four years. You can steal it from me now by clicking BUY NOW. Most people will spend more money in a week on junk food alone!

In addition, this summer has been an awesome one for physical training. Not only have we done amazing work in our private one on one training sessions here in Islip, NY but we have also stepped up our game to the level of small group and team training workouts. Those group and team workouts are located at the Baseball Plus facility in Hicksville, NY. I have structured these workouts in two portions. For your dollar, this is the finest value on Long Island for athletic strength and conditioning. To register yourself, your son/daughter or your team, contact me directly (631) 650-4703. I offer special rates for organizations. I look forward to improving the level of your teams play with these team workouts. As you will see, there is nothing like it anywhere!

When I think of physical training (and I spend a majority of my life pondering it from infinite perspectives) I envision an invincible being. I see a person that is virtually impervious to physical pain, can overcome what seems impossible (to the commoner), has incredible levels of mental rigidity, someone who is willing to brave elemental forces, and free themselves from thought of impending doom or fear of death. To be all these things is so rare. I feel it must take a great variance of tasks (years of the right progressive training) in order to reach a level where a person can find the type of power where he can start to become indomitable. Learning by breaking yourself down across every boundary known to man is a starting point. From that point, the building process begins.

Happy New Year! I want you to make 2011 exactly what it needs to be for you. Keep in mind that when making your short and long term goals for the year that each milestone requires a relative amount of sacrifice. In 2010 for example, I made it a personal goal to do twenty squats in one set with my three hundred and forty five pound natural stone in bear hug position. I tried the first time and failed to reach twenty. I tried again and failed to reach twenty. On the third try, I succeeded in reaching the twenty squat mark while bear hugging this monster. To make it even sweeter, I did this after I had spent a little under an hour lifting my four hundred and eleven pound stone. This represented a major milestone for me as it is a VERY difficult thing to do. Twenty repetition squats with three hundred or pounds or more on a barbell is looked upon as impressive. The same feat while bear hugging a stone is a LOT more impressive. I sacrificed pain, frustration, and time to this cause. In 2011, please make your goals clear and especially what you will do to reach them. All goals are attainable in a reasonable amount of time. Then again, all goals should be reasonable in the first place.

Wednesday, December 23, 2010

When I walk through my gym I hear my implements talking to me. I feel them taunting me to lift and dominate them. Kind of like my 411 pound stone was this morning. I heard it say, "Dave, you better lift me and put me in a bear hug tomorrow because the 345 pound stone is starting to make me jealous". I simply nodded my head in the 411's direction. This is a ficiticious conversation which I make into a reality in order to mentally prepare myself to physically lift. A lot of what I do in training and in life is complete mental manipulation. With the right perspective, I have been able to accomplish some decent things. You can too!

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

The new year of 2011 is almost upon us. In America, this is when all of the "new years resolutions" come out of the woodwork. This is when a majority of superficial goals cover the surface of conversation. You will not however hear or read any of that coming out of my mouth or pen. Around here, in KEG CONDITIONING land, each and every single day is a day to make goals a reality. For example, the actual physical training is one small piece of the puzzle as the life I lead is a much bigger nugget of the whole. The food I eat is natural, whole, and consistent with my level of activity. Each day I give myself ample opportunity to improve on a mental and spiritual level. Do you? Are you making time for this development? The answers to the physical problem that is the human body are within the grasp of the man willing to mentally improve. All training can therefore be considered mental since the commands originate from the mind.

Reflecting on the year 2010, I have a lot to be thankful for. My wife and I are healthy and expecting our first child in March. We have been blessed with the gift of life. The KEG CONDITIONING Book & DVD has done very well on an international scale. The inception and completion of the bi-monthly K.C. News has been a successful business venture. In continuance, we introduced the Indomitable Will Audio CD which has sold all over the world. Our private training business has increased in clientle. KEG CONDITIONING is now working with the top travel baseball team in New York in the capacity of strength and conditioning. In addition, our free daily tips list grows by the day. We also have a private blog now for paying customers which operates more like a message boards providing daily dialogue on a variety of topics. Running a business is a lot of work, hours, and dedication all of which are only realized by the people doing it. I can tell you directly that this is worth every ounce of energy I put into it. 2010 has been good to me because I worked hard for it. This will continue in 2011 simply because I only know how to do things one way; the right way. We are currently working on an apparel line and have a few open DVD projects of which will be finished when the time is made available. Until then, KEG CONDITIONING is the Book & DVD, K.C. News, and the Indomitable Will Audio CD. You can make your purchase for these items by clicking on the picturew that represents it on each page. If you go to the home page, you will see a special promotional code for both the Book & DVD and also for the Indomitable Will Audio CD.

A lot has happened since my last public blog entry. One thing for example is the fact that I achieved a milestone in my own training. I reached 20 reps on the bear hug squat with my 345 pound natural stone. I used chalk on my hands and no supportive gear. I mention that not to compare myself to people using supportive gear. I mention it just so you know what happened and how I did it. I also weighed in at 256 just prior to the workout and my height is 6'-3". In addition, I spent and hour lifting my 411 stone before I even attempted the 345X20. Matter of fact, I didn't even plan on doing it and it was completely impromptu. I literally just picked it up, went into the low squat, and began squatting. The guys in the gym which included Austin & Steve Weiner, Bailey & Steve Abromowitz, and Len Spero gave me the verbal cues I needed to complete the task. No way would I been able to keep track of the number of squats or finish it without the help of these guys literally telling me what I needed to hear. Bear hugging that 345 pound stone long enough to do 20 squats drains physical energy, oxygen, and spirit. Man, I am sure glad that's over! While I have conquered a major milestone, that day has past now. While I will eventually do it again now it's time for me to focus on lifting and carrying my 411 pound natural stone. to be continued...

If there is something in your life that you do not like, do something about it. All things in life are relative which means if you have shown determination in one aspect of your life, you can certainly apply it to another. This is easier said than done however it needs to be fully understood. The time is coming when mankind is reaching a literal precipice thus making self-reliance of apex importance. This means as a global species, human beings need to improve ourselves, the animals that surround us and our living space in order to survive. Since 2008, I have been spreading my word of fitness, philosophy, and mental toughness around the world. While you most definitely will not find me on the best sellers list of accomplished fitness advocates, you will find me connected to extremely hard working people all over the world. KEG CONDITIONING has done a very good job of reaching the people mentally, physically, and spiritually tough enough to do it. The fact that I have found so amazing is that folks of all fitness levels and ages have purchased my Book & DVD, K.C. News and Indomitable Will Audio CD. My products also have absolutely no regional sales strength. These two factors alone prove the KEG CONDITIONING worth to mankind.

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Yesterday I had my four hundred and eleven pound stone delivered to my gym. I took it off of the lift gate in bear hug position then slowly lowered it to the ground. This deload or negative portion of the lift was very challenging as it was heavy as sin. Later on in the day after a few errands, I took to lifting it. I used chalk on both hands and did not wear any supportive gear while lifting it. The only gripping points were on the sides of it near the bottom. This makes the lift a sumo style lift which is the worst case scenario for a stone lift. Specifically, it is something I have never done. I was hoping I would be able to straddle the stone and then lift it up into my gut in the same manner as all my other stones. This was not the case and my performance showed it. I lifted the four hundred and eleven pound stone five times. Each time, the stone was lifted six to eight inches off of the ground. I consider this a major stepping stone for me and a victory. After the fifth repetition, I decided to try to lift my three hundred and forty five pound natural stone in the same sumo style manner. It was incredibly difficult, much moreso than a traditional straddle style lift. Now I have something to work on. Since the four hundred and eleven pound stone requires a sumo stance, this is what I will practice as an addition to straddle lifting. I am also putting a carry and lift progression into place that is really awesome. Stay tuned for that. I will upload a picture of this monster next to my three hundred and forty five pound stone later today for your visual comparison. Video of my lifts will be available to all private blog members later this afternoon. Have a great day!

Props out to Steve Weiner who lifted his three hundred and twelve pound natural stone onto and off of a barrel forty two times in an hour last night! That's a terrific workout! Again, I never said I was the strongest or he was the strongest but we just might be the most determined. There's a lot to be said for that. You should strive to be determined too! That determinations just might be the missing factor in your progress. You can learn how to do that with the KEG CONDITIONING training course.

It takes guts to train without steroids in order earn progress. The natural way takes much longer but the results stick. It means a dedicated raw diet, attention to hydration, and adequate rest. The actual training is easier and less complex than your average muscle magazine says it is with all the waves, cycles, etc. Waves and cycles are typical steroid talk used to describe the dosages used by the user. Do you find that a coincidence? Feel free to email me at dave@kegconditioning.com with your response.

Last night it was time for me to train again. I had finally recovered from the one hundred forty one pound stone clean and press for one hundred repetitions. That session took one hour and forty four minutes to complete. It was a brutal experience. I cannot tell you enough how good it feels to get done with another one of these classic Lemanczyk marathons. It looks easy on paper and on the screen but doing it is a different story.

Four days later, I decided to go at it again. Walking into my gym, I looked at my three hundred forty five pound natural stone known as the Arrowhead and decided all I was going to do was lift it. I took out my fifty five gallon steel barrel and put a spare tire on top of it then set it in the middle of my gym. The rule of the Arrowhead game was that I had to pick up the three hundred and forty five and elevate it over the platform then set it back down to the ground. The purpose of the platform is to reach the height and NOT to set it onto it. The loading and deloading aspects are both important to developing strength. I used chalk only and did not wear any supportive gear. It was thirty two degrees outside and windy. I was wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt.

I pushed play on the new Death Angel album (Relentless Retribution) and started the work. I did the work. When the buzzer sounded, I had lifted, loaded, and deloaded the three hundred forty five pound natural stone twenty eight times. This is almost a pace of one lift every two minutes. It might not seem fast but it is a very good pace. In case you were wondering, my bodyweight was two hundred fifty one pounds with clothes on. After the stone loading was over, I started pulling my big tire sled. I pulled the empty one hundred fifty five pound tire for forty yards then loaded it to three hundred fifty seven pounds and pulled it for another forty yards. At this point, I was DONE! I bet it reads real easy but until you do it, you'll never know. Chances are if you ARE reading this, you work hard and we are very much the same. This web site doesn't do well with soft punks, pencil neck geeks, twig forearm people, Internet GURU's, and people who do curls with an empty appollons axle that weighs thirty three and a half pounds in a power rack. This is for real.

P.S. Right now there is a 30% OFF Holiday Sale on the KEG CONDITIONING Book & DVD and also the Indomitable Will Audio CD. Click on either of these two item or both and enter; XMAS2011 to receive 30% OFF!

It is difficult to follow simple training advice for most people. The reason is because they are searching for a complex magical routine that does not exist in reality. The fundamental basics of physical training reside within carrying then dragging objects not squats, deadlifts, and bench presses. Pushing and pulling exercises are extras. Yet, if you visited a "gurus" web page you might find scientific training templates with a full list of exercises to be done. Even better is how these templates tell you when to train instead of you learning to obey your own natural recovery time. I bet that seems a little confusing right?

Training is a simple thing made complicated by people that do not train. When I train my own clients, I teach them how to use simple exercises and add a complex effort to everything. For example, something as simple as a sandbag carry can literally become the war of your life when you are asked to travel a couple hundred yards with it. Especially if the sandbag happens to be around your bodyweight! The style of training I advocate for requires the most amount of work possible in both mental and physical capacities. The only thing you have to lose by training with my style or with me directly is the last thing you ate.

Friday, December 3, 2010

The age old question of physical training is the same age old question in terms of life. How can progress be made when the methods are unknown? The answer is to make the unknown known. This is done by seeking and finding information related to what you want or need to know. There are many people who seem to think that each person should know what is unknown. In reality, I have never in my 33 years of life on Earth have ever met anyone who has ever done anything alone despite any claim. Sooner or later everyone I have ever known seeks and finds the information they need in order to complete a task or list of them. Sometimes this is as easy as asking a question, other times it could be renting a library book, and sometimes it could be paying for a piece of literature or multimedia. Please do not be fooled into thinking that seeking information is wrong when it couldn't be more right. Just like another good book has said, "Seek and ye shall find". World philosophy is all centrally focused on human improvement. No matter where you are in the world, it will become obvious that learning is a critical compenent to making progress. Nobody truly just knows as some might make it seem. As I have stated before, I have been a student of many people and continue to learn on a daily basis. Once my learning ends, my ability to teach will be severely compromised. Until then, I'll be here.

While much of my physical body is still in a major state of recovery from Friday's session, my mental toughness and spiritual strength levels have been completely replenished. You should know that I am fully committed to reaching my goals of becoming an extremely strong stone lifter and barrel handler. Each day of my life is dedicated to these pursuits. The way I eat reflects it as is the way I care for myself. Everything I do in my life leads me closer to my goals of doing the things that some people consider impossible. All my life, I have enjoyed proving people wrong and this will continue. In the months to come, you will hear about some amazing triumphs coming out of camp KEG CONDITIONING. I will not let the cat out of the bag just yet but I will tell you that I have been working hard for a very long time and the work has paid off tremendously.

You can reach your goals by doing the same exact things I do. Plan your goals, live in a way that accommodates them, and let nothing get in your way of reaching them. Cast negative people aside and harness the anger you feel into positive means if it does indeed cross your path. In time, if you hang onto your goals long enough, if your conviction is deep enough, and if you work hard enough, you will not only be a success but someone that will inspire others to reach their goals as well. Anything is possible and if anything I have demonstrated that on many accords. Now it's your turn.

Black Friday, 2010

Black Friday here at KEG CONDITIONING Headquarters in Islip, NY is a day for incredible training and phenominal eating. Yesterday Steve Weiner, Pat Povilaitis, Steve Abromowitz, and yours truly put down an awesome display of physicality. I would go on record to say it will be difficult to find another group of drug-free, hard working honest guys in the world doing the same thing.

So what went down? Well, let's just say we set things off with stone lifting starting with my 19 pound Dinosaur Egg and worked our way up to the 345 newly named Arrowhead stone. Personally, I took the 345 Arrowhead for 3 trips down and back in my driveway in the bear hug grip with no regrips (in the rain, 40 yard trips each time). Not bad for a natural guy just working hard. Pat Povilaitis picked up the Arrowhead many times which is an incredible feat for a man of 170 pounds. You can do the math on that one! Steve Weiner spent a lot of time lifting and learning the Arrowhead which is not an easy thing to do. Natural stones require learning and Steve is a very solid stone lifter. We both enjoyed the dizzyness that the Arrowhead provides. What specifically was done with the stones? How about, loading, carries, medleys, overhead presses, cleans, feats of strength, bear hug squats, etc! Those bear hug squats were with the 345 stone if I might add. Yup, not bad and no tacky on any of this either!

It doesn't end with stones either. Once that was over I personally took it to the barrels. They don't call this KEG CONDITIONING for nothing you know! For the first time, I side overhead pressed my full wine keg for repetitions. A major PR for me and anyone in the know, does know how hard it is to press a full wine keg with your hands in the middle of it. Try it with a keg and then imagine it with the monster! Again, no tacky or any silly nonsense. In addition, I also spent time shouldering a partially water filled 55 gallon plastic drum and doing several sets of bear hug squats with the same implement. Bear hug lifting 55 gallon drums and squatting with them is something I have been working on for years. The work is paying off. Shouldering the 55 water filled drum was difficult and of course a full squat had to be done with it on the shoulder (below parallel of course). Brutal. In addition to the overhead side press for singles and reps, I decided to also take a few rounds of bear hug squatting with the 55 gallon partially water filled drum. Each rep below parallel and a testament to bear hugging strength. Anyone who thinks this is easy needs to try it. The 55 gallon drum was 118 pounds total and the full wine keg 113 pounds empty.

It doesn't end there. Pat Povilaitis performed many feats of strength that were just insane among other adjectives. In one particular feat he picked up my 249 pound granite block stone (VERY rough) put it in his lap and then twisted a piece of 5/16" X 6" short steel. Anyone who is in the know about steel bending knows this bend is incredibly tough and he is probably the only guy who can do it. By the way, keep in mind he also had something like a 249 pound stone block on his legs while doing it. Wow! Should I tell you about the adductor stone lift feat of strength? Nah, I'll just keep that between the guys that were here. Do you want to know about Pat playing the piano while carrying a 172 sandbag for 40 yards? That's a bodyweight sandbag in case you forgot, he weighs 170! I will tell you that both Steve Weiner and I bent pieces of 12" X 3/8" railroad spikes in under :10 seconds. Not bad for a couple of natural guys but doing anything with steel after Pat or whenver he is here is almost silly. The guy is in a class by himself with the steel and definitely is the worlds greatest short steel bender.

Where was Steve Abromowitz during all this? He was busy pulling my mondo tire sled in the rain (no easy feat) for hundreds of yards, sandbag carries, sandbag presses, doing heavy dumbbell swings, heavy dumbbell overhead presses, keg pushups, farmers walks, etc. Steve works hard and because his biceps muscle was aggravating him, he took himself out of the stone lifting. He also continually demonstrates how much can be done despite anything that might be nagging him. A tough dude with the biggest trapezius muscles on Earth. He also might have the thickest neck as well, just freaky. Not only did we train like maniacs but we also put down a 13.43 pound turkey, 5 pounds of sweet potatoes, 8 pounds of stuffing, 24 biscuits, 2 pounds of corn (Weiner), gravy in about 30 minutes. Great day boys, can't wait to do it again!

Thanksgiving Day, 2010

What's it like to train here with Dave Lemanczyk of KEG CONDITIONING? First, I would definitely recommend you reading the testimonial page on this site to give you a basic feel. Secondly, this will be the most intense, gut wrenching experience of your life hands down. Most people get here ready to work as they know my reputation and what I bring to the table. There is literally no suprise as to what it will be like since all of my customers are word of mouth referrels. When people show up to train, they come here to perform and for all the right reasons. I teach my clients how to train the right way so when they feel they know enough, they can independently do it on their own. I don't yell or get in anyone's face with my delivery. Instead, my approach is appropriate and my presence is enough to inspire others to finish incredibly tough physical tasks. There's working out and then there is KEG CONDITIONING, step into the arena!

Lots of armchair experts seem to think training should be done independently without anyone teaching them. By the way, every single person on Earth has learned how to do it at one time or another. This is the worst advice I have ever heard for a few reasons. The first reason to not take the learn by yourself advice from a hyppocrate and learn physical training from me is to ensure that mistakes are not made that may cost you a lifetime of pain based on incorrect practice. The second reason is that everyone who teaches physical training learned how to do it properly from someone else first. Noone truly invented anything although improvements have been made in practicalities. You can believe what you want to believe but until you do this with me, you have no idea about what we do. Step up!

It has been said before that fear is suffering. In order to eliminate suffering, first you have to erase fear. It has also been said many times that in order to conquer your own fears you have to face them directly. Yesterday's example of the mirror is a concrete way to face yourself. Once you are honest with yourself, you have taken the first initial step to improving yourself. Be honest and take it for what it's worth. All of this happens without the use of fitness equipment or ever stepping foot inside of a gym. This happens in the dark, deep depths of your mind. This is the hardest form of training you will ever do.

Strength within a person radiates from inside of their body and into all surrounding areas they occupy. People will feel your inner strength when you come in contact with them. As a result, you will not be taken advantage of and people will know it because they can feel your energy. This is not quantifiable by scientific means yet it still exists. Weak people get manipulated and taken advantage of primarily because they have not turned the finger inwards for personal character development yet. Other people sense it and exploit it. This should be all you need to read in order to start the process yourself. Strength comes from within.

I trust you enjoyed yesterday's installment of truth serum and today I will pick up right where I left off. One of the best ways to face yourself is to literally face yourself. Go to a mirror, look into your own eyes and nowhere else for a duration of five minutes. Do not be afraid to look away when you start to feel different sensations go through your spirit. Instead, keep that gaze and look directly into your soul for the full five minutes. In many ways this exercise allows people to learn who they currently are free from filter. Some folks have taken my advice and literally started to cry freeing themselves from the demons they have created for themselves over time. I am not exxagerating either as this is powerful stuff. Free yourself and become yourself instead of the lies and self-deceit you might have created to surround yourself with.

I first began using this exercise upon recommendation of my college basketball coach. He said, "I can dissect each one of you individually in terms of what you are doing wrong to cause us to lose but more importantly you have to know before I tell you. Each one of you needs to literally look in the mirror, relive the game and be honest with yourself. You should never lie to yourself". This is great advice and something I took on a very deep level. Not only did I apply it with basketball but also with job interviews, relationships, physical training, etc. This is a universal concept and something that can lead to a higher level of self-awareness. I personally begin each day doing this and it helps me to focus on where I am at right now, free from filter. In thirteen years using this method I have developed an ability to look directly at reality to see the truth of the matter in all areas. You will too, in time. Together we can become champions.

How much physical training talk is dedicated to building the mana or inner strength of a man? How many fitness "experts" or better phrased "pitch-men" talk about the type of work or the specific roadway to take in order to understand who you really are? I mean you can find an exercise and a synthetic over the counter supplement for every letter in the alphabet but what about the conceptual understanding of mana? Most people don't even know what the word mana means? Mana, in case you don't know is spiritual strength or the inner strength that gives mankind his true sense of unseen power. In order to find this power and this strength within yourself, you must face yourself with open eyes. This means accepting what you have become and then taking the necessary steps to improve upon it free from fear.

The industry of fitness is largely built on lies and deception. This is a reality that cannot be hidden and the proof is within history. Since history repeats itself, you will continue to see celebrity diets, celebrity workouts, nonsense synthetic quick fix supplements, fitness gadgets that promise results, etc. The more people that buy into it, the longer those trends stay in effect. When I started my own physical culture business years ago, I knew what I was undertaking but at the same point in time, I was ready for it. I was ready to teach anyone who is willing to learn how to become completely independent. My question to you is are you ready to face yourself and become what you should be?

The most popular ice cream flavor in the world is vanilla. This is not going to change any time soon no matter what magic flavor of the month is advertised. Exercise has the same principles attached to it. Hard work with sensible basic tasks combined with true grit are the keys to the physical kingdom (inside the gym). The other huge part of the deal is lifestyle choices (outside the gym) that must be made to accomodate the hard work. Very few people know how to do this type of work and need to learn the correct way to do it.

Since 1997, I have been teaching people how to effectively train and become independent of my advice thereafter. While this perspective of running a business doesn't match up with the all too common drug dealer philosophy so many trainers have, I want my clients to evolve and then advocate for my services. Lots of trainers sell flavor of the month to anyone they can because they are spineless jellyfish and are money hungry pigs. My hope is to expose all that jazz and return physical culture back to its original state of strength builing (in and out of the gym setting).

I enjoy being a person who acheives. In doing this, it is important for you to know that I have failed many times. In fact, I have failed so many times I bet it would make the average person depressed. The bottom line is that is takes many failures in order to produce success on every level. When I look at physical training I see it as a moment where I can dominate myself. Whatever I did last workout is last workout. Whatever I did yesterday is yesterday. Today is today and that is what is most important to me. I live for today. This perspective has allowed me to get the most out of myself and enable others to do the same in their lives.

I felt good enough to workout today, so I went into the gym and set the timer for one hour. I rolled my 222 pound atlas stone into the middle of the room and began doing one motion loading from the ground, up to chest level then back down to the ground in silent set down style. In one hour, I complete 123 repetitions which is a PR on many levels. I was able to completely shut off pain at repetition 28 and every single stone was a one motion load. I have never done this prior to today. Traditionally, in marathon stone tests, I have lifted a stone, lapped it, re-gripped it and then shoot it up my chest. Today, I decided all that had to change. All that matters is today; 222 X 123. In case you were wondering, this amounts to 27,306 pounds of stone moved. Not bad for an average guy.

Stone lifting is a test of a man in many ways. I consider this type of training to be the most difficult of all kinds. The stone itself is hardened and it hurts the body to lift. In turn, the body must adapt to the imposed demands. There are no shortcuts with stone lifting as everything is earned. Some of the strongest, toughest, and hardened dudes on planet Earth lift stones for a reason.

The ninth issue of the K.C. News will be solely about stone training. Over the past decade I have mastered many types of movements with these beasts of all sizes. This, like all the other issues of the K.C. News, will be one you will not want to miss. After this, there is only one issue left and the K.C. News projects will be complete. If you are just learning about the K.C. News for the first time, click on the The K.C. News to learn more!

I am sure many of the readers knew about J.C. Hise prior to me writing a short blurb about him in yesterdays blog post. For the readers that did not know, he was a man that represents every man (even me and you) for a few simple reasons. While Hise did make great initial progress in his own training he inevitably hit a brick wall. It was at this time that he continually tried to crack two hundred pound bodyweight marker to no avail. The same methods that helped me make initial gains did not provide the gas to push beyond.

Sooner or later Hise must have lost confidence in the things he was doing and began looking to outside sources for help. This does not show weakness, this demonstrates intelligence. If things don't work, change them! He knew he could make more progress with physical training since he had the drive but he lacked a method to the madness. When he found articles written by Mark Berry on the deep knee bend (squat), the seed was planted and he went to work. The rest is history and truthfully one of the best stories around. J.C.'s story isn't just tremendous from a strength standpoint, it is best since he was an average guy who worked hard to get results, got results, hit a sticking point, looked for help, got help, and took what he learned then applied it for BIGTIME RESULTS! His story is my story and is your story. We all need information from time to time in order to further our gains.

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Many very strong men have walked this Earth before me and I respect all of them for their efforts. Today, I would like to bring the name of J.C. Hise to the table. His closest friends knew him as Joseph Curtis Hise and there is a lot of information that can be found about his life on the Internet. The point of bringing J.C. to the table today is that his physical training program was extremely simple and effective that it literally spurred the popularity of the squat exercise in America (and beyond). Now, I didn't train with him nor live in a time to watch him train but it is believed that his routines basically consisted of one set of squats, one set of presses, and one set of curls. He also gained almost 30 pounds in a month doing that routine twice a week. As stated above, he did one all out set in each basic exercise. He did not do multiple sets, used supplements, or take steroids. Lots of folks look for all the wrong answers instead of just following good examples. There is a lot that can be learned from the life and times of J.C. Hise. This is just a small note so you know who did what when. Now go do your homework and learn more about him. I open the door, you walk through.

I will be the first to admit that I train a little different than most folks. I almost always do my work outside whether it's nice out, rain, or snow. I like to be close to nature and earn my keep with it. If I have something planned that is not safe when it is wet outside, I simply audible the workout plan to make sense. Last week I put myself through a challenge of lifting my 222 pound atlas stone as many high loads to my upper chest in fifty minutes as possible. I accomplished 69 repetitions, lost some skin, some blood, but gained a lot in mental toughness, physical strength and indomitable will. This footage will inevitably become part of the Extreme Training Series Volume I DVD that I will release in time. A great effort. A week prior to that I did a thirty minute loading drill with the same stone for 71 repetitions but the loads were not nearly as high and I used more tacky on my fingertips making it easier. Must keep it real folks, it's a must.

So that 222X69 was five days ago and last night I needed to let off some steam. I decided to make it real simple and take a pair of medium weighted dumbbells for a mile carry. I put my IPOD on shuffle, pressed play, and got down to business. The 52 pound dumbbell farmers walk for a mile took me 18:14 to complete. It took me seven trips in total to amass the mile. I am not strong enough to do it in one shot. When all was said and done my body felt great. Everything head to toe was ROCKED! That is exactly what happens when you do a light farmers walk for distance. The 52 pound dumbbells are a perfect choice for me. When you choose a weight I would advise you to go with a lighter than heavier perspective. Trust me when I say that it WILL get heavy after a while. Your grip will be tested along with your shoulder girdle, hip girdle, core, neck, and EVERYTHING else as there is no escaping the physical pain that accompanies the experience. It will be intense and remaining focused during the moment will allow you to finish. Getting all fired up, screaiming and wasting energy will leave you unhappy and unfulfilled. I remember most of the steps I took and especially the nature I got to experience during the while. I appreciate seeing animals watching me as I watch them in turn.

For all the folks reading this, please understand I train one way and I teach others to train another way. Specifically, I take things to a limit most people are afraid of. My style is certainly extreme and I am aware of that. I am also conditioned for it and not afraid of it. When I work with athlete's and non-athlete's in business, I focus on teaching them to master basic movements, sensible applications of exercise, common sense, and effort based training to acheive results. All of my clients in turn become masters of their own mind and body thus creating a full path of independence.

It's not easy to stand alone. As a matter of fact, standing alone on your own two feet is the most difficult thing anyone can do. As many parents have watched their children grow, they also feel pain with each fall that their child takes out of empathy. It is with this understanding that these same parents also feel the relative strength when their child demonstrates it during the first moment of which they stand on their own two feet.
